Clouds on the MoonPsychological Services for Organisations
Why the name 'Clouds on the Moon?'
One night, three friends were walking on a Mediterranean beach beneath the cool light of a large full moon. As the waves lapped at the edge of the beach and the sand tumbled over their bare feet, the first friend looked up at the silvery orb and said "Can you see the face of the man in the moon?"
The second friend angled her head upwards and studied for a moment before replying, "You mean those things that look like clouds?" whereupon the third friend laughed and exclaimed, "Don't be silly, there's no clouds on the moon - it hasn't got an atmosphere!"
Three people, each looking at the same thing, yet each perceiving something completely different.
There are, it is said, no realities - only perceptions - and it is these perceptions that shape our uniquely individual view of the world and our reaction to it.
Our respect for the individual and their own world-view is exampled in this story and honoured in the name of the organisation that came into being that night.
